These DMSI pilot projects tested four digital messaging models in four settlement agencies in Calgary, North Bay, Halifax and Ottawa.
Each pilot had a unique scope to serve newcomers in their own context.

Newcomer NEO
The Multicultural Centre in North Bay created a Facebook group for newcomers to Northeastern Ontario to find and share opportunities to live, learn, play and work, as well as ask questions or share events.

Project Beacon
Project Beacon aims to empower immigrants, refugee claimants, migrants, and community members to promote accurate information on national and local COVID-19 vaccination efforts in person, in print, and online.

Portail d’intégration franco-immigrant (PIFI)
The Vanier Community Services Centre partnered with other organizations to create the Franco-immigrant Integration Portal (FIIP), a Facebook group for newcomers to Canada to ask questions, chat with other members and receive useful settlement and integration information.

Settlement services through digital messaging
CFN's digital messaging case management system aims to provide continuous contact and communication to help newcomers settle in Canada easily, quickly and affordably. This one-to-one digital communication includes WhatsApp messages, text messages, voice notes, as well as phone and video calls, which in some cases are used to provide case management services to eligible clients.
The Afghan Digital Service
We’re using a private Telegram group to connect Afghan newcomers across Canada with information about settlement services in Dari and Pashto.
